Practice Direction Regarding Often Cited Family Law Cases in Family Proceedings in the Superior Court of Justice in the Central West, Central South, North West, South West & Toronto RegionsPractice DirectionThe following Practice Direction for the Superior Court of Justice in the Central West, Central South, North West, South West, and Toronto Regions was filed with the Secretary of the Family Rules Committee on April 30, 2010 and is published herein pursuant to Rule 1(12) of the Family Law Rules. It takes effect immediately. A list of Often Cited Family Cases for Family Matters containing cases frequently relied on is now supplied to each Judge who sits on the Family Team. There will be additions to, and deletions from, the list from time to time. An up-to-date list is available on the Superior Court of Justice website at http://www.ontariocourts.on.ca/scj/en/. The cases in question appear on this list under various headings or topics which are not in any way intended to provide legal advice. Parties in family law proceedings in the Superior Court of Justice in the Central West, Central South, North West, South West, and Toronto Regions need no longer include authorities on this list in any book of authorities relied on. However, extracts from those authorities which counsel intend to refer to the court shall be included in the factum or book of authorities. Dated April 30, 2010.
