Gowning Policy for Counsel

Notice to the Profession

Effective September 15, 1999 counsel is required to gown for "all appearances before the Superior Court of Justice, be it trial, motion, or appeal".

Gowning will not be required for appearances before the Master, Small Claims Court (a branch of the Superior Court of Justice), assignment court, case conferences, settlement conferences, trial management conferences, trial scheduling courts, or pre-trials.
